The Carolina Panthers have found their next general manager, but he may not stick around for long.
The #Panthers are finalizing a deal to hire former GM Marty Hurney as their new interim GM, source said. Will take them through 2017.

The news comes just two days after the Panthers fired former GM Dave Gettleman.
Hurney is no stranger to the Panthers. He first started with the Panthers in 1998 as director of player operations. Get this, he became general manager four years later! He would spend the next 11 seasons as general manager before being fired.
But hey, the Panthers want you back so no bad blood, right?
With Hurney as GM, the Panthers made their first Super Bowl appearance in 2003 and made the playoffs three times.
Hurney is ready to come in and help wherever he can.
I never lost the connection with the organization. I’ve gained a lot of perspective and have looked at things in different ways. I think I can help this team in a lot of areas. I think I’ve grown. And I feel I’m better prepared to come in this time and do a better job than I did over the 12 years I was general manager last time.
The hiring makes sense, but some Panthers fans aren’t too excited about it.

No matter what happens, it sounds like the Panthers are using Hurney as a one-year rental. You know what that means? Prepare your resumes Panthers fans, you could be the next GM!
