The Green Bay Packers have cut tight end Martellus Bennett today for failing to disclose a physical condition designation. Adam Schefter shared the news on Twitter.
Packers cut TE Martellus Bennett, as @FieldYates reported. Cut him with Failure to Disclose Physical Condition designation.

Bennett has been dealing with a shoulder injury the past few weeks. He has not seen a snap since week 7. The 30-year-old tight end had 233 yards on 24 catches and no touchdowns.
Bennett signed a 3-year deal after finishing his tenure with the New England Patriots. He played a key role in the Patriots offense after Rob Gronkowski went down with injuries.
Earlier this season, Bennett hinted at potentially retiring at the end of the year. This, along with injuries, could be a reason why the Packers are willing to release Bennett. There also is the idea of the Packers saving a little bit of money.
The #Packers paid TE Martellus Bennett $8M of his 3-year, $21M contract. The only tangible benefit to cutting him with the failure to disclose is if they argue his entire contract is void & go after his money. This isn’t over just yet.

There is some potential that Bennett is not done for the season. Bennet could sign with a team that is willing to pick up his contract.
Rarely does an in-season waiver situation generate excitement. But former #Packers TE Martellus Bennett goes on waivers now. Every team has a chance to claim him and the remaining money on his contract.

With Bennet gone, Richard Rodgers and Lance Kendricks will step up and take over at the tight end position. The Packers next game will be against the Chicago Bears.
