So Bennett may not be 100% sure he’s ready to leave the game. He could potentially play another 3-5 year if he wants to. Although, after winning a Super Bowl last season with the Patriots Bennett is really only playing for a paycheck at this point in his career.
Should he retire at the end of the season the Packers could request Bennett pay back $4.158 million of his signing bonus from the $21 million deal he signed this offseason.
The potential for developing CTE could be playing a factor in Bennett’s decision considering he says he made it after talking to his family.
For his career Bennett has recorded 427 receptions for 4,520 yards and 30 touchdowns through week 7 of the 2017 season. Bennett entered the league in 2008 as a 2nd round pick for the Dallas Cowboys.
