The Indiana Pacers could begin undergoing some changes in the near future. Even though prior to the campaign Indiana looked like one of the most talented squads in the Eastern Conference on paper, they have failed to live up to expectations, posting a pedestrian 29-28 mark before the All-Star break. While we’ve seen the Pacers have the ability to play solid basketball, they fail to stay consistent over long periods of time. Even right before the All-Star break, we saw the team win seven straight matchups which was then followed by a six-game skid.
With one of the brightest young stars on their team in Paul George, he has voiced frustration on multiple occasions this season and is reluctant to commit to having a future in Indiana. The Pacers have reportedly been testing the trade market to get George, being the franchise centerpiece, some additional help. One of the names that always seems to be floating around in the trade rumor mill is that of Brooklyn Nets Center Brook Lopez and according to longtime NBA writer Peter Vecsey, the offensive-minded big could be on the Pacers radar:
By now, you've heard or read George's position on staying Pacer past next season. Now u know why Indy's trying 2 upgrade w Lopez or ???

Vecsey goes on to explain that the Pacers, unsurprisingly, consider George and also point guard Jeff Teague untouchable in any Brook Lopez trade discussions:
With good reason, Indy sacred about losing George & Teague. Keep both, I say, & Import Lopez or someone unwanted who's worth 3 month gamble

Brook Lopez heading to the Indiana Pacers could be a much-needed change for all parties, and the Nets are reportedly more open to dealing the big and have lowered his asking price.
If Larry Bird and his front office were to pull the trigger, the long-time defensive identity of the Pacers organization could give way to a more prolific offensive attack. The Pacers already have one franchise big in Myles Turner but Lopez could be a worthy option off the bench or alongside the Texas product.
While Lopez doesn’t provide much in terms of defense or rebounding, he would be able to lessen the scoring burden on George and play alongside a familiar face in ex-teammate Thaddeus Young. With trade discussions around the league really heating up, Brook Lopez is a name worth monitoring.
