The Indiana Pacers are reportedly likely to extend the contract of head coach Nate McMillan, according to J. Michael of IndyStarSports:
With a lot of key free agency business taken care of, #Pacers have pivoted towards contract extension talks with coach Nate McMillan, I’m told.

There doesn’t appear to be anything imminent regarding a new deal for McMillan but based on what I’m told by league sources I dont expect this to be dragged out or take a lot of wrangling. It seems a foregone conclusion (and should be) it’ll get done #Pacers

McMillan led the Pacers to a surprisingly successful 48-34 season that culminated in pushing LeBron James and the eventual Eastern Conference champion-Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games. He brought the best out of first-time All-Star Victor Oladipo this past season, giving him the keys to the franchise in just his first season with the team after being acquired in exchange for All-Star forward Paul George last summer.
McMillan will now have an opportunity to build on the Pacers’ success with not only the majority of the 2017-18 roster still intact, but also with newcomers Tyreke Evans, Kyle O’Quinn, and Doug McDermott added to the fold, all of whom were signed in free agency this summer.
McMillan signed a three-year deal to become the head coach of the Pacers in 2016 after Frank Vogel’s firing but has been with the franchise as an assistant since 2013. McMillan has proven to be a good fit in Indiana and now, according to Michael, it is just a matter of time before his contract is extended.
