Overseas Elite has all the makings of a dynasty after they were crowned back-to-back champions of ‘The Basketball Tournament’ following a thrilling contest against Team Colorado. Elite came back from down 19 points in the first half and roared back to a 77-72 victory.
After handing a loss to City of Gods for the second year in a row in the semifinals, Overseas Elite looked to follow their 2015 performance by going into the Championship game and handing a loss to another underdog squad. Last year, Team 23 was the upstart team looking to take home the grand prize, this year it was Team Colorado with quite a roaring fan section and the band advantage on their side.

Team Colorado exploded out of the gates to take a 9-2 lead and with 8:30 left in the first half they saw their lead balloon to 31-12 over the defending champions. Frustrations and displeasure began to mount for Overseas Elite but they quickly put their horrible start behind them and used a second half surge led by DJ Kennedy and Kyle Fogg to mount a comeback.

Kyle Fogg was named 2016 TBT MVP after his 17 point, six rebound performance for Overseas Elite but his teammate DJ Kennedy played nearly the entire game, scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Team Colorado was led by their point guard Marcus Hall who scored 24 points on the night and wingman Austin Dufault scored 16 points with six rebounds.
By time the game was over, in just about one year, Overseas Elite had won $3,000,000 and two TBT Championships. The Basketball Tournament has once again put on a thrilling show for basketball fans to enjoy during the dog days of summer.
