
Hip-hop duo Outkast nominated for the 2020 class of inductees into The Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
Their penchant for storytelling, slick rhymes and, outspoken creativity have resulted in Outkast being recognized as pioneers of Southern hip-hop. Soon, the pair may have another honor to add to their list of achievements.
Despite being talented hip-hop scribes, both Big Boi and Andre 3000 have been showcasing their acting skills. Big Boi joins the cast of Creepshow while Andre 3000 is billed on Dispatches From Elsewhere.
The Associated Press reports Outkast is one of 24 talents to be nominated for induction during the 2020 ceremony. The 2019 class included Missy Elliott, the first female rapper to be inducted. She joined Jermaine Dupri and Jay-Z as Hip-Hop culture’s representation in The Songwriters Hall.
The Neptunes, The Isley Brothers, R.E.M., Gloria Estefan, Mariah Carey and, Vince Gill are other performance nominees potentially earning a spot in the 2020 class. Songwriters become eligible for nomination once their professional career spans 20 years of hit-song writing.
Overall, six acts will be inducted in the 2020 class during the 51st annual Induction & Awards Gala in New York on June 11, 2020.
