Georgetown Hoyas product Otto Porter’s career hasn’t exactly worked as planned since being taken third overall in the 2013 draft, but Porter might get a chance now, and should make the most out of it.
Bradley Beal recently went down with an injury and while Beal recovers from his broken wrist and Glen Rice Jr recovers from his injury as well, look for Porter to play some advanced minutes and in a hurry.

Porter is listed as a small forward, but with all the injuries, Porter will be looked at as the starting two guard and he’ll get some serious run there in the next Wizards preseason game alonside Paul Pierce at the small forward, reports J. Michael of CSNWashington.com.
There’s a strong chance that the Wizards will start Otto Porter, who is doing reps in practice at shooting guard, for Friday’s exhibition vs. the Charlotte Hornets with Bradley Beal and Glen Rice out with injuries.
“A little bit. I did,” Porter said when asked if he was doing more work there after Rice went down with a right ankle sprain in a game Wednesday. Beal had left wrist surgery last weekend.
I like Porter’s game a lot, he’s kind of a swiss army knife on offense. Does a lot of great things but not one specific thing is outstanding. Porter learning from Paul Pierce and starting in that back court with John Wall will make for an interesting distribution of the ball to start the season.
Let’s see how the Hoya continues to work out in the nation’s capitol.
