After suffering an ankle injury in a 111-108 overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Otto Porter was a full participant in Wizards practice yesterday. The injury did not appear to be too bad, and luckily for the Wizards it seems to have already passed over.
Porter’s production off the bench in minimal moments is going to be key for Washington if they want to get anywhere in the playoffs. If Porter can make an immediate impact off the bench once he is sent into games, the Wizards will have another option to turn that was not available in the playoff run last year.
Porter may not get too many opportunities in the playoffs, but he is confident enough to go in and make a difference when Randy Wittman sends him into games. Porter’s growth as a player and mentally will be able to help the Wizards not only this season, but in the future. There may be a lingering injury that may be causing some pain still, but seeing a guy push himself to become better and play through this injury is good news to the Washington front office.
