Now that the Wizards are looking to spend a major part of next season playing small-ball with a stretch-four on the floor, Otto Porter is preparing himself to see some time at power forward. With Paul Pierce gone, Porter is going to become a regular starter in Washington, and has to be ready to play the numerous roles played by The Truth at numerous points throughout last season.

“Definitely, because that’s how the NBA is transitioning, you know, to smaller lineups,” Porter said. “So being able to stretch out as a four is going to be key, and that is something with our coaching we might end up doing. It’s definitely something I’ll be comfortable with.”
Even though Porter appears to be ready for this, it is not very likely to happen. Remember, this is the same guy who didn’t receive much playing time until last postseason simply because he was undersized and considered not strong enough.
Unless he spent his entire summer in the weight room and put on more than just a few pounds, Porter is expected to mainly spend his days on the wing. Unless something dramatic happens, Otto shouldn’t be too worried about having to guard bigger players.
