Olivier Hanlan’s workout with the Washington Wizards on Wednesday was his 18th pre-draft workout, which has helped the former Boston College guard prepare himself for the NBA’s grind. It seems the guard is prepared to get ready for a season which is over double the length as a college season.
Following From Washington Post.
“The grind. Flying to different spots and being in shape and just being ready to play,” Hanlan said. “It’s a mental aspect to the game that obviously you’re fatigued, your body is fatigued but you always have to think about the next one and just prepared in whatever circumstance even if you’re banged up a bit. You just have to keep going and obviously the NBA, having 82 games, is a grind compared to college. You used to complain about 30 games and sometimes you would have two in a week but in the NBA you might have four games a week so have that mentality and just become a professional.”
When some players enter the league, they seem to not be ready to play in a lot more games, but it seems to be the opposite with Hanlan. Being ready to play in all 82 games is necessary, and each player needs to be prepared to play through all the tough times.
The ability to play all 82 games is not only about physical ability, but it also includes being mentally ready to play through pain. Hanlan appears to be ready, which has to be a huge plus to teams looking to potentially take a solidified scorer in this year’s NBA Draft.
