Davis coached at Middle Tennessee State for 16 seasons, dating all the way back to 2012. His program rose to their famed heights of today after their upset of Michigan State in the first round in 2016. After Davis led his last program to the NCAA Tournament three times since 2013.

Davis being a Mississippi native felt this was the right job to jump to a power conference job. For years Davis has drawn interest from bigger schools looking to pluck him from Conference USA. Davis waited for the right job and has a chance to be successful. With Ole Miss being more of a football school it will allow Davis to operate under a low sense of pressure. Kennedy has already shown you can make the tournament at the school during his 12-year run.
