The Oklahoma City Thunder clinched their first NBA Finals berth since the move from Seattle by defeating the San Antonio Spurs 4-2 in the Conference Finals yesterday. The Spurs went from a 20-game win streak to losers of four-straight against the upstart OKC team. Kevin Durant led the way for the Thunder and finished with 34 points and 14 rebounds, he also played every single minute of the exciting Game 6 encounter.
“I told the coaches that I could go all night, I could go 48, and I didn’t think they would let me do it,” Durant said. “But they kept me in and I just tried to give my team a spark.”
Oklahoma City have now defeated the only three teams to represent the West in the Finals since 1998 – Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks – during this playoff run.
They await the winner of the Miami v Boston match-up.
