Oklahoma City Erupts For 120-109 Win Against Memphis In Game 7
The Oklahoma City Thunder advance to the second round of the playoffs by concluding their daunting series with the Memphis Grizzlies with a 120-109 win in Game 7. Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 33 points (12-18 FG, 5-5 3PT) and 8 rebounds. Russell Westbrook tallied his second triple-double of this postseason with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists.
Without Zach Randolph, who was suspended for his punch on Stephen Adams in Game 6, the Grizzlies downsized and used a four-out-one-in line up to start the game, which helped them score 36 first-quarter points. Memphis was able to capitalize on seven Oklahoma City turnovers in the first quarter. It was the massive 44-18 Thunder run from late in the second quarter into the second half that put the game out of reach for the Grizzlies, who also had to manage the minutes of Mike Conley, Jr. due to the right hamstring injury he suffered in Game 6. Marc Gasol had a team-high 24 points for Memphis.
Oklahoma City will face the winner of tonight’s Game 7 between the Clippers and the Warriors in the next round.
