Remember when Nike made their last ditch effort to re-sign Kevin Durant? Well, the latest star athlete to get a potential offer matched by Nike that was made by a competitive brand is Odell Beckham Jr. The NFL star has reportedly received a matching offer from Nike along with very detailed incentives.
Beckham’s contract expired this May 1st and adidas was more than willing to sign him. With an offer on the table, due to a “match clause”, Nike had a 10-day window to match said offer made by the three stripes. That they did.
OBJ’s agents at Elite Athlete Management, made magic happen for the wide receiver. Being the recipient of not only one of the most lucrative deals for an NFL player, Odell is also looking to strut his stuff with more campaigns with the swoosh. From a signature cleat, cross-trainer shoe and full apparel line, there are reports he wants to be a “brand icon”.
Number 13 has shown off and on the court with his fashion forward flashy persona, he is more than deserving of the incentives his agents requested on his behalf. Also, looking to further expand his brand, it is reported that he is looking to be included in global brand marketing outside of Football and Training campaigns.
According to Nick DePaula of Nice Kicks, Odell Beckham Jr. is looking at a 5-year deal worth more than $29 Million. Those huge numbers come on top of yearly incentives that can add an extra million per year. If everything pans out for Mr. Beckham, he could see a potential 8-year, $48 million deal in total.
