NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio has been catching hell over remarks that seem be to common sense in the workplace, however, the NYPD doesn’t share the same sentiment as everyone else. During the funeral of fallen soldier Wenjian Liu, the NYPD turned their backs on the Mayor. Conversely, the officer’s wife stated that the officers do the contrary, and they didn’t comply.
Here’s what de Blasio had to say:
“They were disrespectful to the families involved,” de Blasio said Monday. “They were disrespectful to the families who had lost their loved ones. I can’t understand why anyone would do such a thing in the context like that.”
Even the police commissioner William Bratton had to say something about this mess:
“Don’t put on your uniform and go to a funeral and engage in a political action.”
Let’s be real about this whole situation. Most folks at their places of work will be held to a certain standard, why not the law enforcement? We understand the brotherhood between officers, but when is it enough to police the police?
And that was the message de Blasio has sent since this whole shitstorm begun.
I guess that’s too much ask, though.
