Ty Lawson can not catch a break this year, and I personally don’t think he deserves one. He’s been caught with drinking and driving TWICE over the past year, and has been belittled by injuries. The Denver Nuggets really don’t need his abilities anymore, anyways. They made that clear when they drafted Emmanuel Mudiay with the 7th overall pick in the NBA draft. There were discussions that Lawson would get traded somewhere, even maybe the Kings, but with Rondo signing that is out of the picture. With the Nuggets running out of options, Lawson has done nothing, but force their hand to waive him. Which is actually a possibility for them.
According to Mitch Lawrence of NBC New York:
Denver Nuggets considering waiving Ty Lawson after latest DUI arrest, per #NBA sources. Lawson has two years, $25.6 mil left on contract.

Mudiay is the future of the Nuggets. There is no doubt about it and he better start embracing it. Before Lawson does get waived, the Nuggets will likely try to trade him in order to see what they can get for him. Someone of the 29 other teams has to think Lawson might want to change his life. But who knows, Lawson could stay and create a great duo with Mudiay, but that’s very doubtful.
