Yes! Let’s keep the pressure onto the NBA. The ‘One & Done’ is the worst thing that is going on with the College Basketball game. That and the game itself but at least they’re trying to change that. I applaud the NCAA for actually making steps to make their game better, very nice.
But the problem is, they don’t have autonomy over the ‘One & Done. The NBA does and that’s a problem. Northwestern’s Athletic Director Jim Phillips is a member of the ‘Ditch the One and Done Initiative’.
“Frankly speaking,” Phillips said, “shame on us. We’ve allowed the National Basketball Association to dictate what our rules are, or influence what our rules are at the collegiate level.”
Phillips said NBA executives “look at us as the minor leagues.”
“Nobody feels great about kids going to school for a semester and then leaving,” he said. “That’s crazy. It’s absurd. So we’ve got to fix it.
“Why have we accepted that? Why have we just allowed that to happen without any pushback?“
Jim Phillips you beauty! You are talking pure gospel. I’ve never saw it as a minor league but if the college kids get paid, it pretty much is a minor league where you learn stuff on the side.
The NCAA should have control over the years students have to take, not the NBA.
