In an interesting turn of events, North Korean officials have threated “merciless retaliation” against the Us if Seth Rogen’s new film, The Interview is released.
A foreign ministry spokesperson described the film as a “blatant act of terrorism and war” in a statement released to state media.
Earlier this week, North Korea criticized the movie, which centers around two American television hosts [Rogen & James Franco] who are recruited to kill Kim Jong-un after finding out that he’s a fan of their celebrity talk show.
The spokesperson said:
Making and releasing a movie on a plot to hurt our top-level leadership is the most blatant act of terrorism and war and will absolutely not be tolerated.”
He added that the decision to release the film was “reckless US provocative insanity” that has triggered “a gust of hatred and rage” among North Korean people and soldiers.
If the US administration allows and defends the showing of the film, a merciless counter-measure will be taken,” the spokesman was quoted as saying.
Rogen responded to the news with the following tweet:
People don’t usually wanna kill me for one of my movies until after they’ve paid 12 bucks for it. Hiyooooo!!!
