
Fargo creator Noah Hawley is reportedly nearing a deal to write and direct the upcoming Star Trek film. Hawley’s production company, 26 Keys, will also produce the film alongside JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot.
Hawley made his debut in the world of film earlier this year with Lucy In The Sky. The Fox Searchlight film featured a star studded cast that included Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz and others.
Prior to Hawley’s upcoming film, the last Star Trek film hit theaters back in 2016. Directed by Fast & Furious 6′s Justin Lin, the film featured Zoe Saldana and Idris Elba while bringing in approximately $343 million at the box office.
In addition to Hawley’s work, Paramount is looking to create another Star Trek film as well. The film will reportedly carry an R rating with a script written by The Revenant‘s Mark L. Smith. Most notably, the legendary Quentin Tarantino is rumored to be interested in directing the film.
Paramount nor Hawley has confirmed these reports.
