
The hip-hop community experienced a tragic loss Sunday. Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Joseph Asghedom, was shot and killed outside of his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles on March 31. The Crenshaw rapper, businessman, and philanthropist was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the hospital. He was 33. Two other people were also injured in the shooting. According to NBC News, Los Angeles Police Lt. Chris Martinez has reported that one of the injured men is being treated at a hospital and the other injured man declined treatment.
Los Angeles Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff shared on Twitter Sunday night, that he and Nipsey Hussle were reportedly scheduled to meet today, April 1. The pair were to meet with Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore and Roc Nation, to discuss ways to stop gang violence and help kids. He stated,
“We (@LAPDChiefMoore and I ) were meeting, at the request of @NipseyHussle with him and @rocnation tomorrow at 4pm to talk about ways he could help stop gang violence and help us help kids. I’m so very sad.”
