The Alabama Crimson Tide will be without guard Nimari Burnett for an unknown amount of time because of wrist surgery. Head Coach Nate Oats updated the press about the injury and surgery that took place on Tuesday in a press conference. Recovery time for the surgery is typically six to eight weeks, but that may not be his window to return to basketball activities. The hope is the team will get Burnett back near the end of SEC play and in time for the 2023 SEC Tournament. He did not play Tuesday night in the team’s 91-88 win over the Memphis Tigers.

So far this season with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Nimari Burnett is averaging 7.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game. He has paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 42.2 percent and a three-point percentage of 34.5 percent. Burnett is also one of the team’s best defenders and without him, Alabama will need to find a replacement solution on that side of the ball. The Texas Tech Red Raiders transfer has dealt with several injuries in his career, but hopefully, this one won’t impact his future too much.
Alabama is currently ranked 4th in the NCAA with an overall record of 9-1. The team has not played a game in the SEC yet. The program closes out in December against the 15th-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs, the Jackson State Tigers, and the 17th-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs. We here at Def Pen Sports wish Burnett the best in his recovery and eventual return to the basketball court.
