The Philadelphia 76ers have been on a long road back to relevancy but it appears their patience is now ready to turn to fruition. Dubbed ‘The Process’ by center Joel Embiid, the Sixers’ youth movement is beginning to pan off for them as their roster is now littered with elite, young talent.
Embiid along with first overall picks Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz combine to make a big 3 that should be among the NBA’s best in just a few years. Along with those three, Philly has other solid options as well, one of those being Nik Stauskas. While Stauskas was also expected to be a key part of a team’s future, he has developed into a nice rotational piece instead and is expected to add some shooting to a 76ers roster in dire need of marksmen.
When the 23-year-old was asked about ‘The Process’, Stauskas said that phase is pretty much over and now it is time to start winning. Following from The Score’s William Lou:
Philadelphia is now at step two, which is to actually start winning games. Sixers guard Nik Stauskas stopped short of predicting a playoff appearance, but he said unequivocally that the Sixers are looking to compete.
“We’ve dealt with what people called The Process for a long time,” Stauskas told theScore at the Kiss IPF Goodbye Charity Event.
“It’s time that The Process is over, it’s time that we start winning games, and start competing. That’s really the main goal moving forward.”
While Nik Stauskas is right in that the process of adding young talent and high draft picks is over, the Sixers remain raw and winning consistently may still be out of reach.
With the addition of veterans this summer such as J.J. Redick, Philly’s roster is finally starting to shape into form so in that aspect, yes ‘The Process’ is over and it has landed the 76ers with one of the brightest futures in all the NBA. Expect Stauskas and company to claw for a final playoff spot in a significantly depleted Eastern Conference, despite their youth.
