Nicki Minaj is reportedly set to start in and executive produce a new animated series called Lady Danger. Co-produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Brian Sher, Paul Young and Mike Griffin, the series will air on the free, ad-supported streaming service, Amazon Freevee.
“The series—set in the year 2075—follows a government field agent who is left for dead by her team after discovering a dangerous secret, only to be resurrected as Lady Danger, an afrofuturistic ass-kicking Agent of B.O.O.T.I (Bureau of Organized Terrorism Intervention), who must conceal her true identity while she fights villains who are destroying the earth and its vulnerable inhabitants,” the series description reads, according to Deadline.
Nicki Minaj is one of several musicians to make a major splash in film and television as of late. The aforementioned Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has worked on a number of popular series on Starz, including Power and BMF. Meanwhile, Teyana Taylor recently led A Thousand and One while Bad Bunny took on a leading role in El Muerto. Not to mention, Vince Staples is currently working on The Vince Staples Show.
Nicki Minaj may not be a veteran in the animated television space, but she has amassed a solid resume of roles in film. In the past, she has appeared in The Other Woman and Barbershop: The Next Cut. Additionally, she has earned roles in animated films like Ice Age: Continental Drift and The Angry Birds Movie 2.
