This is not a test. I repeat! This is not a test. Arguably the best cartoon from Nickelodeon’s illustrious catalog is returning to a small screen and a big screen near you in the not too distant future. Tommy, Angelica and the entire crew will be returning for twenty six new episodes and a live action movie. Both the series and the movie will keep with the cast of characters that made the series famous while entering to entirely new roles and plot lines.
On the production side, the series original creators, Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain, will return as executive producers for the television series. Meanwhile, David A. Goodman, will be writing the script for the live action film. Paramount Players will also serve as the team behind the film. There is no word yet on whether or not the original voice actors behind the iconic characters will return.
In celebration of the announcement, Nickelodeon President, Sarah Levy, stated, “Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures.” She also added, “What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”
Production on the film and television series are already underway and the film has a scheduled release date of November 13th 2020. However, there is no scheduled release date for the series new season. We will update you as more details become available.
