Nickelodeon has elected to remove its animated series, Made by Maddie, from its future schedule.
“Made by Maddie is a show we acquired several years ago from Silvergate Media, a renowned production company we have previously worked with on other series,” the network stated.

“Since announcing the show’s premiere date this week, we have been listening closely to the commentary, criticism and concern coming from both viewers and members of the creative community.”
The series has drawn criticism for its similarities to Matthew Cherry’s short film, Hair Love. Cherry won an Academy award for his work in February and signed on to turn the film into an HBO series this summer. The award winning director has not verbally commented on the matter.
