Nickelodeon has signed off on a Spongebob Squarepants spin-off focused on Patrick Star. Early reports indicated that Bill Fagerbakke has began doing voice over work for the role. The Patrick Star Show will focus primarily on his interactions with his family, but will feature occasional guest appearances from original show cast members.
This is the latest Spongebob Squarepants spin-off series to get the green light from the kids network. In 2019, the network signed off on a prequel series entitled Kamp Koral that is set to debut later this year.
As of now, neither Nickelodeon nor the cast members have offered a comment regarding the show. With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to delay the production of a number of shows, it is unlikely that we will see anything from this project until next year. Still, it is something to look forward to.
