Los Angeles Lakers swingman Nick Young is expected to miss approximately 2-4 weeks after straining a calf muscle in his right leg. From the Lakers’ official announcement:
Lakers guard/forward Nick Young, who was injured in the first quarter of last night’s game at New Orleans, had an MRI exam today in Chicago. The results show a strained calf muscle in his right leg. Young is expected to be out approximately 2-4 weeks.
This is relatively good news for the Lakers. When Young went down during Tuesday’s game, it looked like a serious injury — likely something to do with the Achilles. Compared to a potential Achilles tear, a strained calf is nothing.
Young, who is reportedly facing assault charges after an incident in a Church League basketball game this summer, has had a great season for the Lakers. Young is playing the most inspired defense of his career while averaging 13.3 points per game on career-high shooting from the field (45.8%), three-point range (41.8%), and the foul line (94.1%).
