Nick Young Is Willing To Stay With Lakers For Discount
Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young led the team in scoring in one of their worst regular season campaigns in franchise history. Young has the option to opt out of his deal and pursue a deal he thinks would be more deserving, especially after such a productive season, but it’s clear that his desire is to remain a Laker,
I feel comfortable in L.A. But I can’t keep taking these discounts. I need a raise a little bit. But if it’s for the right cost and they’re bringing in players and I fit into the rotation, then I’ll probably take a pay cut.
The Lakers and their fans certainly would like to see Young, affectionately nicknamed ‘Swaggy P’, return to purple and gold next season. His willingness to stick around for less money is a good sign, especially since LA has their cap space dollars saved up for big name free agents like Kevin Love in 2015 or even Kevin Durant in 2016. Where Nick Young will fit in the rotation is hard to speculate with the Lakers still without a head coach. We’ll know more about his fate come July 1.
