Free agent guard Nick Young was placed in handcuffs following a routine traffic stop in Hollywood Friday night, a witness to the situation confirmed to Def Pen Hoops.
The news was first reported by TMZ on Saturday.
Young was arrested for delaying an investigation after refusing to cooperate with police. Despite believing he was wrongfully arrested at the time, Young was taken into custody and released on a $10,000 bail early Saturday morning, according to online court records. His court date is September 19.
Young, who spent the 2017-‘18 season with the Golden State Warriors, also had an incident with police back in 2016 for disturbing the peace. That incident was minor, with law enforcement claiming Young was playing his music too loud, and Young claiming an officer heckled him about his team’s poor record.
Young has played for five teams across his 11 NBA seasons, winning his first championship with the Warriors last season. He held per-game averages of 7.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 17 minutes in 80 contests.
Before joining Golden State, Young spent four seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, two quick stints with the Sixers and Clippers, and a four-year run with the Wizards to start his career. He averaged 17.4 points per game in the 2010-‘11 season with Washington.
