Aldon Smith was promptly released from the San Fransisco 49ers earlier this year before he could even play a down with the Niners in 2015. He was charged with his third DUI and San Fransisco reached their breaking point.
He was released and quickly signed by their crosstown rivals, the Oakland Raiders. In his time with the Raiders he has played well, but his time with Oakland may be coming to an abrupt end.

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com does report that the Raiders will stick with Smith through his suspension.
The #Raiders are going to stick with Aldon Smith through his suspension, I'm told. They were expecting this to come down.

Smith appeared in nine games this season for the Raiders. He recorded 28 combined tackles along with 3.5 sacks and three passes defended.
Smith’s time with the Raiders is over and next season, don’t expect to see him on an NFL roster as the season starts. Getting suspended for one year is not ideal but Smith is still only 26 and he has a ton of talent that might intrigue some team enough to take a chance on him.
