The big fellas started off the combine right with the annual bench press drill. The drill is designed to measure a players in line strength, which is essential for blocking of course. Each player tries to bench 225 as many times as they can. The record for an offensive lineman at the scouting combine is 45 set by Mitch Petrus of Arkansas in 2010. Cowboys Hall of Fame guard Larry Allen once bench 705 pounds for 1 and 225 pounds for 56 but neither was performed at the scouting combine. The day started with massive intrigue after Iowa tackle showed off his hang clean performance.
