Well, after Monday night’s nightmare that was the blown judgement call of the Packers v. Seahawks, it seems the NFL has been doing some damage control.
After one too many mistakes from the replacement officials, NFL fans had had enough. The disgust with the league’s inability to reach an agreement with the professional referees reached a boiling point. Fans and even players displayed their disappointment all over social media sites.
ProFootballTalk.com says that the strike is over and the NFL and referees have finally reached an agreement. As long as a vote on Friday night goes well, the pros will be back in their black-and-white striped uniforms by the end of this week. A crew is even currently being assembled to officiate Thursday night’s game between the Browns and Ravens.
The terms of the agreement include the officials receiving a four percent pay raise, 12 guaranteed game checks this season, and 19 in the years thereafter. The officials will split up $2.5 million of reimbursement for the games missed.
