The NFL has established a combine for veteran free agents this March in Arizona. The goal for the league is to better evalutate the free agent class in avoidance of handing out more horrendous contracts. In the past free agents were invited to regional combines but more focus was shown towards the younger draftees. The combine will include roughly 100 free agents as well as representatives from all the 32 teams. The notation behind the idea seems to be a good one as free agents will have to remain in shape before they receive that hefty contract. It also allows teams to get another look at those diamond in the rough players. The only concern would be a risk for injury but hopefully that risk can be mitigated.
