The log jam in the New York Knicks back court is very obvious and seems to be a real problem. Seven listed guards on the current roster may create some issues for younger guys like Iman Shumpert and Tim Hardaway, Jr to get solid minutes. The Knicks previously were considering shopping guards J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert but now have changed their direction on other reserve guards. ESPN’s Marc Stein tweets the Knicks might look to move Wayne Ellington and Pablo Prigioni.
How ’bout a Knicks rumble? I’m told they’re trying to find a new home for Pablo Prigioni as well as Wayne Ellington to create roster room
Attempts to move Ellington solo have been unsuccessful, so Knicks said to be weighing prospect of attaching Prigioni to deal as a catalyst
NOT a case of Knicks not liking Prigioni. It’s more NYK being unable to move Ellington unless they attach likes of Prigioni or Shane Larkin
Ellington just came to New York in the trade that sent Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to Dallas while the Knicks received Ellington, Jose Calderon, Shane Larkin and two second round picks in which the Knicks used to draft Wichita State forward Cleanthony Early.
It might be tough to get rid of a 37 year old Pablo Prgioni and a small expiring contract in Ellington but the Knicks might have to do it due to the fact they are just full of back court bodies and not enough space to play them all.
