The Knicks have had a pretty disastrous season, aside from the brilliance of Kristaps Porzingis. I’m sure that Phil Jackson is hoping to make a big splash in free agency, perhaps by signing Kevin Durant or Rajon Rondo, or… Evan Turner?
From CSNNE’s Chris Mannix(as transcribed by NBC Sports’ Dan Feldman):
The team that might be after him the hardest is the New York Knicks. I’ve been told that Phil Jackson is a big fan of Evan Turner
…
I expect New York to make a run at Evan Turner.
Signing Evan Turner probably isn’t the Knicks’ first priority with all the big name free agents out there, but obtaining his services wouldn’t be a bad move for New York. Turner is an underrated player, who’s very versatile. He’s an automatic midrange shooter, a good playmaker, and solid defender.
Turner has had a good year off the bench for the Boston Celtics, averaging 10 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 27.4 minutes per game. He’s a good fit in Boston’s second unit, part of which has to do with the team being very well-coached by Brad Stevens. Could Kurt Rambis get the same out of Turner? Maybe not. However, who knows if Rambis will even be coaching by next season?
