The balls bounced New Orleans way and the conspiracy theorists had a field day. The Hornets franchise won the NBA lottery (just months removed from being owned by the NBA, and having a pre-season trade nullified) and will have first crack at projected No.1 pick, Kentucky’s Anthony Davis. The Hornets earned their first number one pick since selecting Larry Johnson in 1991 – when the franchise was still in Charlotte – despite having just 13.7% chance of winning.
The Charlotte Bobcats – who finished with a 7-59 record – mathematically had the biggest chance to land the top pick but ended up with the second pick. All eyes will now turn to Michael Jordan, who doesn’t have the best record as a front office guy, to see what he will do with the pick.
