
The great city of New Orleans is closing in on a deal with the NBA to host the 2017 All Star Game according to The Advocate
If everything goes to plan, there is a formal announcement expected to take place early next week, sources said.
Charlotte was slated to host the 2017 All Star Game but Commissioner Adam Silver decided to move the game following the controversial HB2 law in North Carolina, which discriminates against the LGBT community. When the NBA decided to move the game, New Orleans was on the list of possible replacements cities.
This city is experienced in hosting the All Star Game, having hosted the game in 2008 and 2014.
UPDATE (8/19/16): The 2017 NBA All-Star Game will officially be held in New Orleans, a source told Brett Martel of the Associated Press.
The NBA is expected to make an official announcement by the end of Friday.
