Another week means there’s new Wale material. Spending the early days of December setting free new records, including “Groundhog Day,” his response to J. Cole, and “Folarin Like,” Wale is letting us know that there is much more where that came from as he put his signature touch on a D’Angelo classic.
Placing his rhymes over the production of D’Angelo’s “Lady,” Wale takes the moment to not only celebrate Black women, but to highlight that Black is indeed beautiful. With the freestyles not coming without reason as the rapper is gearing up for the release of his Shine album, Wale’s modern spin on classic records just may be the perfect formula to build further hype.
