The brand new trailer for the new ‘IT’ film has dropped! The Stephen King classic is finally getting the proper big screen treatment. The most famous adaptation of the novel came back in 1990 with the Tim Curry led TV miniseries. That adaptation had long been the standard bearer for the visual representation of the novel. Though that could very well change this September with the release of Andrés Muschietti’s version of ‘IT’.
The trailer highlights the revised time setting of the film as well as its singular focus on the childhood side of the ‘IT’ story. The novel operates in two different time periods where one phase of the story takes place during the characters childhoods and a second phase where the children face down their childhood fears as adults. Muschietti has noted that he, in fact, will be returning to complete the story if the film is financially successful. From the look of the first two trailers that shouldn’t be a problem. In fact, the first trailer for ‘IT’ set a new record for youtube views in a single day by registering over 197 million views in its first 24 hours. We’ll keep an eye on this version of the trailer to see if can reach any similar plateaus.
We’ve attached the 2nd official trailer for ‘IT’ and synopsis below. Pennywise will make his big screen debut on September 8th, 2017.
“When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, neighborhood kids band together to square off against Pennywise, an evil clown whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries” Via New Line.
