The VP of Android, Hugo Barra, unveiled the brand new Nexus 7, which we covered a few days ago. It is Google’s answer to Apple’s iPod mini and will compete against it for the smaller-tablet market as it is slimmer, thinner, and lighter than most tablets available. Its screen display is also far more impressive, with a 1920 x 1200 display and 323 PPI pixel density, the highest pixel density on the market. It will be available for purchase July 30th. The new Nexus 7 will also be shipping with the latest version of the Android operating system, Android 4.3.
This latest version of the Android OS offers a redesigned camera interface, smoother animations, Bluetooth Smart, multi-user Restricted Profiles (good for children), DRM APIS (good news for people who like watching content on their tablets), and improved Notification access. While the new Nexus 7 will be shipping out with 4.3, older devices will be receiving the update within the coming weeks.
