As a franchise, the Brooklyn Nets are in a weird spot right now. They do not own any first round draft picks of their own until 2019 and they aren’t exactly a team with a ton of talent right now.
They did re-sign two big men in Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young over the summer but those two alone aren’t going to get the Nets in contention for a title anytime soon. Brooklyn is hurting for young talent so it might be time for them to start dealing away some of their older veterans. Last week, we heard a rumbling that reserve guard Sergey Karasev wanted to be traded and now it appears that the Nets have moved on from Karasev and they’ve focused their trade efforts on to a starter. Bojan Bogdanovic.

Bogdanovic is in the first year of a bargain three-year, $11 million deal. He’s playing almost 25 minutes and scoring 8.4 points per game. There is a lot of potential in the game of the 26-year-old but only if he’s developed in the right place. He’s a solid shooter out on the wing who works well to create off the ball but he seems to have regressed this season. It could be in part due to defenses focusing more on Bojan as opposed to other players in the past like Deron Williams and a younger Joe Johnson getting the attention on the wing. As weird as it sounds, Bogdanovic is the best Nets perimeter player and his might have some value if the right team calls.
Bogdanovic has some talent and value and for the right price, he could be moved. But what is the right price for the Nets? They managed to somehow work a deal to get a 2015 first round pick in Rondae Hollis-Jefferson but beyond that, their team is a ragtag group of young guys who didn’t get a chance anywhere else coupled with some veterans who haven’t performed to their standards as of late.
Let’s see where the Nets go from here.
