So the Nuggets are apparently stacked with big men and don’t mind hanging them all out to dry. Mozgov. He’s off to Cleveland. And now they’re going for the alienated Brooklyn center Brook Lopez according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
Denver, I’m told, has been pushing an offer of J.J. Hickson/JaVale McGee for B-Lopez. Nets have so far been firm in their refusal to take it
Now why would Brooklyn not take this deal do you say? Because believe it or not, they have no reason to. Think about it. JaVale McGee and Brook Lopez are both injury prone. JJ Hickson is a great backup, but is not starter material. Lopez is far better than McGee, so they might as well stick with Lopez on that front.
The Nets are still looking for trades involving Lopez, Williams and Johnson. The clock is ticking. They better make some phone calls and quick. I think the Nets need youth. Maybe a player like Elfrid Payton or Nik Stauskas. Sure all three Nets players have their positives. But all the NBA is seeing is their negatives. If they put these three on the trading block before this season started. They wouldn’t be in this position. Guess they thought Lionel Hollins would get the job done but clearly he isn’t when it comes to Lopez, Williams and Johnson.
February 19th. That’s the deadline day. If they can get youthful talent with a decent future. The bleeding would stop in an instant. Their payroll would plummet, and Hollins will have a team to work with.
