The trade deadline has the ability to jump-start people’s careers, restart people’s careers, or just give them a fresh slate, a new start.
For Thomas Robinson. He spent years playing for Portland. Never quite becoming fulfilling his role as the number 5 pick. Slowly rotting away as it seemed. I mean when he came into the league I saw some huge potential. Similar to Tristan Thompson. But Portland never gave him much of a chance. So when he got the news that he was going out. It must’ve been bittersweet for him. Yes Portland traded him. But according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, the Brooklyn Nets are giving him a deal.
Robinson, the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft, will sign a 10-day deal with the Nets, which is expected to lead to an agreement for the remainder of the season, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Robinson will clear NBA waivers on Tuesday at 5 p.m. EST.
After Portland traded Robinson to Denver on Thursday, Robinson’s agent requested he be waived because of a lack of playing time available to him with the Nuggets.
Nets fans must be looking at Thomas Robinson and go “Better than KG that’s for sure”. I said that the Nets won’t make the Playoffs if Brook Lopez, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson are still in their account books. And I still believe that. But this deal for Robinson is a potentially good deal long-term. Now don’t forget that he is in the 10-day contract period. So it could go belly up. But I’m sure the Nets will give him a permanent deal.
