The Nets have made their often injured and now benched big money big man Brook Lopez available to teams. They talked a 3-team deal with the Charlotte Hornets and Oklahoma City Thunder, which ended up failing. Then they talked to just the Thunder about a deal, which failed. They’ve also explored a possibility for acquiring Thaddeus Young, but it’s gone no where.
Now, they Nets seem set on keeping Brook Lopez around Brooklyn…for now.

After progressing in serious talks on a deal to send center Brook Lopez to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Brooklyn Nets backed away from discussions Friday afternoon, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
“Standing pat at this time,” one Nets source told Yahoo Sports. “There was nothing we liked.”
The Nets backed away from the idea of simply moving Lopez on a salary dump, without the ability to bring back value on his talent, league sources said.
Nevertheless, discussions could begin again with a simple alteration of an offer, and the Nets’ desire to move Lopez soon remains unchanged.
The Houston Rockets were also probing the Nets on Lopez too, league sources said. The Miami Heat have also remained connected to discussions on Lopez, sources said.
A deal needs to be done and soon. You can’t even imagine the range of emotions that Brook is going through this season. He’s benched, hurt and now he’s being talked about getting sent to a multitude of places. It could be frustrating for him.
At the same time, he should understand it’s a little confidence booster that some teams actually want your services and the teams aren’t slouches, they’re all contenders in their specific conference and the acquisition of Lopez could send that team into the next upper echelon of the NBA’s best.
