
The Brooklyn Nets are hiring a couple of former players whose names will be very familiar to hardcore NBA fans. Argentine and Italian Pablo Prigioni has been added to the coaching staff, while Brazilian Tiago Splitter will be in a scouting role, the team announced Tuesday:
he Brooklyn Nets announced today the addition of Pablo Prigioni as an assistant coach on Kenny Atkinson’s staff, as well as Tiago Splitter to the position of pro scout, with added duties related to player on-court development.
Prigioni, 40, spent just four years in the NBA (2012 to 2016) but has a wealth of overseas experience; he’s been playing professional basketball since 1995. In his four seasons, spent with the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers, Prigioni averaged 3.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Prigioni took up coaching with Baskonia in 2016 but stepped down after a 0-3 start in EuroLeague and a 2-3 start in the Liga ABC.
Splitter, 33, announced his retirement from basketball in February. He played in the NBA from 2010 to 2017, averaging 7.9 points and five rebounds per game. Splitter won a championship with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014. This will be Splitter’s first NBA experience off the hardwood.
