The Nets are being very picky when talking to the Clippers about getting Paul Pierce. The Clippers will have to pony up, maybe more than they like for Pierce to reunite with Doc Rivers.
According to CBS Sports the Nets and Clippers are having a good old back and forth about who should get what. With Paul Pierce being the man in the middle…
For the Nets, getting something for Pierce would be preferable to nothing, right? A first-round pick — even one that’s likely to fall in the late-20s — would be big for a franchise that has traded away so many of them, but it’s unclear whether or not Rivers would be willing to surrender one.
An earlier report from ESPN LA’s Ramona Shelbourne the Clippers already made a pretty decent offer. But the Nets rejected it.
The Clippers likely would include some combination of Jared Dudley, Matt Barnes and last year’s first-round pick, Reggie Bullock, according to sources.
Now it’s up to Rivers if he’s willing to give away one of their linchpin bench players. Or give away a 1st round pick.
Expect this back and forth to carry on.
