The Brooklyn Nets have made several moves this offseason, but they are typing up on loose end for their summer of change. The Nets and Taurean Prince have agreed to a 2-year $29 million extension according to an official team press release. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the extension first, via Prince’s agent.

Brooklyn acquired Taurean Prince this past offseason in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks. The 6-foot-7 wing will take on a bigger role this season while Kevin Durant recovers from a torn achilles tendon. Prince had a good preseason with the Nets, perhaps easing the organization’s trepidation about giving him an extension.
Prince has a history with Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson, who was an assistant in Atlanta under then-head coach Mike Budelholzer. Atkinson left the organization for Brooklyn in 2016 to become the head coach and help start the rebuild.
“I think Sean Marks sets the tone, and then obviously along with great ownership; they’ve taken a lot of responsibility to make this team what it is,” said Prince via Tom Dowd of brookylnnets.com. “The fact that I’m a lot comfortable, super-comfortable with the people around here, from the team to the training staff to the janitors to the cooks, like, everybody makes everything feel like home. So that made it that much easier.”
The 25-year-old Prince spent his first three seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and two assists per game.
