Wojnarowski is reporting that a package of Lance Stephenson, Gerald Henderson and forward Marvin Williams would be sent to Brooklyn in exchange for the former all-star Johnson.
Johnson is still owed $23.1 million this season and $24.9 million next season, the final year on his deal.
The Nets have lost eight out of 10, and with the highest payroll in the league, are looking to dump salary as Brook Lopez and Deron Williams have also been involved with trade rumors this season.
The Nets and Hornets had serious talks on a three-way deal that would’ve sent Brook Lopez to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the deal fell apart when the Nets had second thoughts on adding the Brooklyn native Stephenson.
Joe Johnson is having some what of a down year, averaging 15 points per game this season, good enough though to be the Nets leading scorer.
