Netflix has elected to renew their hit, scripted comedy, On My Block, for a third season. The renewal was made official when the show’s Twitter account tweeted, “Our mentions will never be the same. On My Block season three is officially on the way.” The new season will bring back stars such as Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco, and Jessica Marie Garcia. Eddie Gonzalez, Jeremy Haft, and Lauren Iungerich will also return as the show’s executive producers. Iungerich will also reprise her role as the series’ show runner. Production will begin later this year in Los Angeles.

Despite the good news of the cast and crew returning, there is a bit of bad news as well. The show’s third season will be two episodes shorter than the previous two seasons. In comparison, the show’s first two seasons consisted of ten episodes, but the third season will only consist of eight. There has been no explanation given as to why the season’s length has been cut, but we can assume it will come up in discussion during the show’s third season promotion.
The renewal comes just a month after Netflix released the second season online. The show’s sophomore season currently has a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Check out season two before the show returns for its junior season.
